Appellation for the man in Christ
In the study of the scriptures, we would find a culture that should influence ours. The man in Christ is not ordinary in scriptural terms. John helps us to understand that this man has passed from death to life because he has believed in the son, so it lies on us to accord proper names and appellations to such a man.
Believers in Christ all over the epistles were called SAINTS many times and were NEVER called SINNERS SAVED BY GRACE.
The sin title is not for the man in Christ, what pertains to sin about him is that his sins have been forgiven, hallelujah. So a saint is not someone who has been wearing white all his life and never sinned and contrary to many beliefs, we don’t die to become saints. The man in Christ, who has believed the message of the gospel of Christ is so called, SAINTLY.
1 Corinthians 1:1-2;
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
This letter was to a troubled church, with their many misconducts, Paul still addressed them properly… Oh, glory! The church of God is sanctified in Christ, on him, we are called HOLY, WE ARE CALLED SEPARATED, WE ARE SAINTS.
Colossians 1:2; To the saints and faithful brethren in Christ which are at Colosse: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 1:1; Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Consistently we have seen who a saint is – the one who has believed, a member of the body of Christ, We are saints IN CHRIST. Our state as being in Christ has distinguished us from the world, we are now in fellowship with the Father and the Son, and we are separated from this world forever.
We have seen who the man that has believed has become, a saint – ‘Hagios’ in the Greek. It implies blameless, most holy. No wonder, the epistles say we are without blame.
Ephesians 1:4; According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
1 Thessalonians 3:13; To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
The believer is the saint in Christ, we must renew our minds to think the epistle’s way and address the man in Christ well. All believers in the gospel of Christ all over the world are saints, we must not call uncommon what God has cleansed.
