Co-labourers in His kingdom (1)
2 Corinthians 6:1;
1 We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.
The believer makes the church work, but the believer does not do it alone; we serve God with other people and because of this, we must know how to relate well with others.
Mark 3:20-24;
20 And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
21 And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.
23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, how can Satan cast out Satan?
24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
The people were accusing Jesus of casting out devils with another devil, but Jesus made them understand that if a house is divided against itself, it cannot stand. By implication, a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand. There is bound to be conflict because we are dealing with people. In Acts 6, we see how there were murmurings within the church.
Human conflicts are part of the work, but we must learn to solve them – Paul recognized this in the different churches he wrote to (Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:11-14). Conflicts are bound to happen because we are dealing and working with other people, with different backgrounds and ideologies.
James 3:13-17;
13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
There is nothing born out of bitterness that is justified – eradicate bitterness! We shouldn’t mix bitterness with our service to God. When believers are bitter in service, it’s proportional to standing against God’s work. There’s a lot we can achieve when we stand together.
