keeping your childlike simplicity (2)

Beginning from salvation, we started with a childlike response to the message of God’s help. We received the kingdom of God like children, with childlike simplicity.

1 Corinthians 1:21 KJV
“For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.”

We recognized God’s wisdom in the gospel and considered it wiser than ours. The wise of this world, in rejecting God’s wisdom, have made themselves foolish.

Matthew 11:25 KJV
“At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.”

The supposedly wise of this world have hindered God’s plan for them through their apparent wisdom.

Here, “babes” refers to the childlike. Therefore, the new birth is a journey of simplicity, and so will our walk in faith. If your simplicity fades, you lose much. Respond to God’s word like a child, respond to the training of the Spirit as a child would.

1 Peter 2:2 KJV
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.”

Just as newborns desire milk, you should desire the sincere milk of God’s word. Take a cue from them. Spiritual growth means that the same things that enthused you years ago should still ignite your passion now. The desire should not diminish, nor should the fervency. If it kindled the fire in you before, it should continue to ignite it. Do not be a believer who only seeks head knowledge; instead, submit to the written word and put it into practice.

This extends into the natural. You must have a childlike attitude, casting your cares upon Him. Have that simple trust that is characteristic of children, unwavering in belief, undaunted and unmoved by prevailing circumstances in the natural.
