Meditation (1)
Meditation is vital to the Christian faith, it is an art that ought to be learnt, mastered and practiced by every believer who wants to get better.
Meditation is the flip and opposite of worry, it would imply musing and pondering over the scriptures; In meditation, you most likely will be speaking to yourself.
It’s important to note that the art of meditating upon what is taught in the word is the focus of Bible study. In properly meditating on the scriptures, we find the fruit of teaching made manifest.
Psalms 1:1-3;
1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
This man will be well-spoken of, this man will prosper.
Meditation is key in our doing the word. James explains the man who doesn’t neglect and forget the word as the doer of the word.
James 1:22-25;
22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Our meditation on the word influences the way we act on the word. If you Want to be better in your walk of faith, then you must consistently think the word and keep it on your lips too.
The doer of the word does more after the teaching than during the teaching, he consistently thinks on what has been taught, he ponders and puts the word first in decisions and daily living.
We must pay attention to God’s word more than gists and television. Today and always, spend time meditating on the word.
Say: I put the word first in my endeavors, today and always, I choose to meditate on Gods word and I’m better for it. Amen
