Our help is within (2)
Acts 17:24-28
24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring
God put the limits on our bodies, he created the boundaries of our habitation. God doesn’t react to the devil, God makes provision. We are built to be helped, we are not perfect, but God gives us his perfection. God’s provision can be through men, when a fellow believer gives you something (could be in material things or in counsels), receive it and give thanks to God – it’s God providing.
Jesus, in his humanity, showed us how to receive God’s help – he used Peter’s boat to preach, he received the loaves of bread and fishes, even though he could have fed the people without receiving from the boy. Be open to receive. God knows you are frail, there is no human that cannot make error – you need to recognize that and receive his help. The believer is a beneficiary of God’s help.
Hebrews 2:16-18;
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.
Recognize that because you are human, you can be tempted. Have a sane estimate of yourself – recognize you are frail and that you can be tempted (with money or fame or something else). Temptation is common to man.
Hebrews 4:15-16;
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
The provision for temptation is God’s help.
Read Matthew 14:26-30;
Sometimes what happened to Peter happens to us; we stop walking in faith, and then we begin to sink – it can happen. Verse 30 shows us what to do, Peter recognized his frailty and he reached out for help – be quick to ask for help. We see what Jesus did, he immediately stretched forth his hands – that is God.
Matthew 14:31;
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?
Say this: I receive immediate help; I receive God’s help immediately. Things begin to fall in place, things begin to go right for me. God is working on my behalf – day after day, year after year.
