Staying full of the Spirit (2)
What does it mean to be full of the holy ghost?
Luke 1:41-42, 67
41 And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42 And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,
She was full of the Holy Ghost and spoke. There’s an action to being filled, unlike the indwelling, which is passive. That means you are moved by the Spirit to engage in spirit-inspired activities. Like in the case we saw above, she spoke.
See Acts 2:4;
They began to speak. Being filed will primarily be in speaking. (Acts 4:8,31 Acts 6:3; Acts 9:17-20).
There is always an activity to it. No one is filled with the holy ghost to keep quiet. Everywhere people were filled with the holy ghost, they spoke. There is an inspired speaking, something God wants to say through you and to you.
Thus, Paul instructs;
Ephesians 5:18-20
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
He says we can sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Spiritual means of the spirit, there are songs that are of the spirit, songs inspired by the spirit not premeditated.
Colossians 3:16
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
The word ‘word’ here is actually utterance, he says in the utterance of Christ, there can be teaching, what Paul will call doctrine.
You are a man of God, such experiences should not be an anniversary in your life. Wake up with spiritual songs, songs inspired by the spirit. Tongues, interpretation should be your everyday reality.
