If humans will always need God (who is their help), then it follows that when life’s storms, trials, and temptations come, our default response should be to trust in His help.
This is what is called the “Faith walk.” In our walk of faith, we ought to begin from a point where we recognize God as one who is always for us. Walking in Faith is founded on laying hold on God’s willingness and our trust in His faithfulness, which was first demonstrated in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.
That said, when trusting for a particular need or that which we strongly desire to have met, our first disposition and response is to belittle and dwarf the situation or circumstance with our words. David did this with Goliath.
And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: and I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.
Observe how nothing in David’s words glorified the adversary or Goliath. Rather, David spoke more of the victories past, and the ones he’s yet to experience by the hand of God.
This is what faith does. The Faith of God dwells on what God can do. The Faith of God views obstacles from the lens of what God can do and says – “not today,” God’s power is bigger, His word is more potent, and I’ll see a victory.
The reality of our faith walk is that we can have what we say and what we desire.
Say this: I can have what I say. God’s healing power is at work in me, effecting a healing and a cure. My needs are met, and my bills are paid.
