The legend of the seeker
The reason we have the scriptures, the Holy Spirit, is solely MAN. The scriptures were inspired by God but written through men. The heavens and the earth, the stars, the firmament were all created and made because of one entity; MAN. Goes to show how valued man is. Man fell after Adam’s sin, but God in His love proffered a solution, a solution that is all about man but nothing by man.(Gen 3:15), He made a promise of defeat to the serpent, that promise was man’s hope and that was the light every man searched for.
Luke 15: 2; and the pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receives sinners, and eats with them.
On hearing this, Jesus gave a reply:
Luke 15 :4; what man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, does not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?
Jesus is the express image of God, so if we want to know what God will do, we look at Jesus, Hebrews 1:1-3 explains this better. Thus, from the scriptural verse above, we know that God (seeing him through Jesus) seeks sinners.
We might have grown up with the mindset that God hates that guy who is always smoking and getting drunk. Or that God can’t just wait to judge sinners, or that He’s even ready to vent anger on any believer that misses the mark.
May I present to you the ‘God who is’, probably, He is not the ‘God you think’. He is a God who seeks sinners and keeps the ninety-nine, He longs to hear your voice, He longs for fellowship with you. The legend of the seeker is the Gospel, it tells us of God’s amazing grace in how he looked out for us even in our deepest mess and keeps us.
Anyone in Christ has an assurance of life eternal. If you probably miss a mark, the good shepherd that came looking for you (Luke 15) will not suffer to leave behind any of His sheepfolds, for he has said “I will never leave you nor forsake you, so that you may boldly say, the lord is my helper” (Hebrews 13:5-6).
Christ loves you and the love is eternal, your sins can not separate you from God, Paul records:
What can separate us from the love of Christ? Neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principality, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come. Nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of Christ. (Romans 8:38-39)
Can you now see that God loves you, He died for you, and resurrected that you might live, now He lives in you. With all the amazing love, our response is to love Him, and that our lives sing a love song to Him that loves us unconditionally, not to doubt or seek to make perfect in the flesh what was authored by the Spirit (Gal 3:1-3).
It was Christ who came running for us with the arms of mercy, and it is he who keeps us till the very end. THIS GOSPEL IS THE LEGEND OF THE SEEKER and THE KEEPER!
