This same healing Jesus

Mark 5:22-23;
22 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet,
23 And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

Here, we see Jesus’ compassion for the sick. Jesus didn’t turn away from the distraught father! Jesus did not turn away from deep need or faith in his healing power. Jesus never said no. Even when sinners sought his aid, he doesn’t leave the hopeless in hopelessness, rather every sick one found a healing friend in God’s dear son.

That is what Jairus found when he came to Jesus.

Mark 5:24; And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

Jesus went with him. Jairus presumably must have seen Jesus before, had heard his teachings and witnessed some of his mighty works, he perhaps could have even doubted Jesus before, but none of that matters any more, he is here, believing in the power and willingness of the healer.

Jesus’ words to him were unambiguous: DON’T BE AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE.

Mark 5:35-36;
35 While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

The worst that could have happened actually did happen, probably that was Jairus’ fear. His daughter died, but Jesus’ response is instructive even today- DON’T BE AFRAID, ONLY BELIEVE.

Fear is a thief of the miraculous, it breeds doubt and enthrones hopelessness, Jesus’ words are DON’T BE AFRAID, TRUST THE HEALER. Believe in the power of God.

Mark 5:38-42;
38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult, and them that wept and wailed greatly.
39 And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth.
40 And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.
42 And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment.

The healer leaves his watermark – joy to the mourning. He heals everywhere, everyone and every time

Peter said this about Jesus:

Acts 10:37-38;
37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

With power he went about healing all manner of sicknesses and diseases. Jesus healed so much that he was called the healer, he still does the same today for he is alive. Don’t get used to that sickness or the drugs. Jesus the healer is alive and he is willing to heal you just as he has always done.

Don’t be afraid, only believe. Believe that the power of God is at work in your body, effecting healing and a cure right now. Now say the same….again and again. The power of God heals, begin to do what you couldn’t do before.
