Walk in God’s Leading (1)
Romans 8:12-15
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Sons of God are led by the spirit – many who are led by the spirit of God are the sons of God. Paul explained to the Roman church that salvation is the leading of God. Every believer is led by God. If anything is lacking, it is knowledge. The believer shouldn’t pray to have direction but to know, to have recognition of direction.
Jeremiah 10:23-24;
23. O lord, I know that the way of a man is not in man that walketh to direct his steps
24. O lord, correct me but with judgement, not in thine anger, let thou bring me to nothing.
The way of man is not in himself it is not in man to direct his step. Whatever you see a man do, it is as a result of influence. The word direct is from the Hebrew word ‘kun’ which means establish, no man is established without influence. Whatever a man is doing it is a result of influence, man has no power to establish himself. In verse 24, he now mentions correction after saying it is not a man to direct his steps, so the direction is in correction, that correction is the leading of God, man needs correction. There are two ways to it, it is either you are walking in light or not, nothing like low current.
It is a shame to any believer to leave his life to chance. The believer must learn to walk in absolute direction, he must not be at the mercy of circumstance. The supernatural is our realm, it shouldn’t be any special thing. The believer is always led by the spirit of God, the leading of God is in the spirit. To pray for light when you have light is to walk in darkness, salvation itself is the leading of God.
John 10:4;
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.
Jesus says the sheep knows the voice of the shepherd. The sheep recognize his voice. It’s an error for a believer to be praying “God lead me”, he is praying the wrong prayer, instead we pray for recognition of the leading.
The believer is always led, our dealings will be in the mind, the believer needs to train his mind to recognize the leading. The mind is full of many things it is not quite easy to recognize the leading of God, so the believer needs to train his mind.
