What to do in tough times (2)

As you go about the journey in ministry, there will be times when things get overwhelming. When the going gets tough, it might want to seem like you are living a wasted life. But you must understand that there’s a greater mission than an endless pursuit of gold and silver. That’s what you were made for – the Lord’s mandate (2Cor. 5:21)

During tough times, never seek to take a break from the work of ministry. Oftentimes, men who take a break from the work are never the same. Faithfulness is what you do to the end.

Sometimes, it gets so uneasy, but God sees you and he sees your heart. Will things get tough? Certainly. Times of strong opposition and persecution. Those are times of trials – it’s those moments that make the minister of the gospel. Thus, in those days of adversity, your strength must not fail.

What do you do when the going gets tough?

1. it’s time for much prayer – Luke 22:40-44;
In times of tribulation, you must look to the Father to lift you up. And the way to do that is in much prayer. Prayer helps you stay alert. Prayer keeps faint-heartedness away from you (Lk 18:1). Prayer works on you. The primary focus of prayer is you, irrespective of what you are praying about. When the going gets tough, praying in the spirit must be kept on repeat.

2. Go for the word
Consistently listen to messages because those times are times to guard your heart much more with God’s word. Knowledge is what keeps the believer going, it is what strengthens your convictions in the days of adversity. That’s why Paul will pray for the church in Ephesians 1:15-20; Philemon 6.

3. Practise the spirit often
There’s a practice of the spirit where we practise the presence of God more often. Just yielding to tongues, yielding to prophecy
The Christian life is not an ordinary one. It’s supernatural in its origin, so should our daily living be. When the going gets tough, why not just rejoice? Why not just laugh in the spirit?

Give in to inspired words: “There’s no fear here”, “I’m not of the world”, “my feet are steadied”, “My hands are strengthened”, “There’s no giving up here”, “I’m seven times ahead of every pressure to give up”.

When the going gets tough, you must learn to practise the spirit. In meditation, you’ll see what God will show you, and he’ll show you the way to go. You must learn to keep your joy loud and intact!
